WILKES-BARRE — Hard rock band Shinedown will be co-headlining the Carnival of Madness tour for the fifth time, and the 2016 rendition of the rock festival will bring the band and its tour mates to the Wyoming Valley.

Shinedown will perform with Halestorm and Whiskey Myers starting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, 255 Highland Park Blvd. Tickets start at $39.75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. April 15 at Ticketmaster and the NBT Bank Box Office at the arena. An internet-only pre-sale will begin at 10 a.m. April 14 for Mohegan Sun Arena’s Backstage Club email subscribers.

Since forming in 2001, Shinedown has churned out a series of studio albums and hit singles. The band’s latest effort, 2015’s Threat to Survival debuted at the top of Billboard’s Rock Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums lists and reached No. 5 overall on the Billboard 200.

Joining Shinedown this year will be Pennsylvania rockers Halestorm and southern rock act Whiskey Myers.

“This year, we’ve gathered artists from across the rock spectrum to bring the most dynamic Carnival of Madness to date,” Shinedown lead vocalist Brent Smith said.
