It’s back-to-school time and the weather is starting to turn.
I hope you’re savoring the last few weeks of summer as much as possible, though.
Oscar and I took a ride to Harveys Lake on Wednesday to sit on the top deck at Jonathans Restaurant on Lakeside Drive.
Truthfully, I tried to remain in the moment and just enjoy the night instead of documenting options, the menu, etc. I’ve written about Jonathans before, so you know we love the vibe there.
We both had delicious fish and chips entrees while sitting on the deck watching the sunset above the water.
I could have eaten anything, honestly, and it would have been amazing, because the scenery was just so perfect.
I highly encourage having a cocktail or bite to eat on the deck before the weather changes completely.
Apart from that, we joined some family for a dinner at Buona Sera Restaurant on North Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, and loved every bite.
We were the first people in the door and really enjoyed selecting our round table right near the entrance.
As we sat, other tables filled around us, but it wasn’t overwhelming or crowded.
The servers were attentive and super friendly as we ordered from the expansive menu.
I considered steak and fish, but at an Italian restaurant I felt I had to choose that cuisine.
Since “buona sera” is an Italian phrase meaning “good evening,” we were in the right spot.
To start, we had homemade meatballs served with roasted peppers and onions in a homemade marina sauce alongside bread.
For dinner, the Chicken Bouna Sera was my pick. It’s a chicken breast with breaded eggplant, roasted peppers and mozzarella cheese served in a demi-glaze sauce.
Oscar went with the Artisan Sausage dish, which is a homemade artisan sausage topped with roasted red peppers, onions and tomatoes. It also comes in a homemade marinara sauce.
Other entrees included pork chops and chicken served Francese-style.
It had been a bit since we’d visited Buona Sera, but I left feeling so glad that we did.
Of course, I had to have a piece of chocolate mousse cake, which prompted Oscar to order a piece of carrot cake.
It’s always nice to check out the dessert menus, but so hard to decline such sweet invitations.
We hope to visit again soon, as it was a relaxing night with good service and top-notch food.
