    Hawley Earth Fest, a three-day celebration of Earth includes a cleanup of Route 6, dinner specials, live entertainment, shopping sales, demonstrations, book readings, nature education, hikes and more. Takes place at various sites in Hawley. April 22 to 24. Contact Jason Merrill at 570-862-2453.

    Birding in the Kirby Park Natural Area, sponsored by the Greater Wyoming Valley Audubon Society. Meet at the parking lot by the Nesbitt Park boat launch in Wilkes-Barre, accessed via First Avenue. 8 a.m. April 23. Free. 570-371-3951.

    Winter State Park, moderate 7-mile hike sponsored by Susquehanna Trailers Hiking Club, meet at the Park & Ride on Route 309 near Blackman Street (across from Kmart) in Wilkes-Barre Township at 9:45 a.m. April 23 and leave at 10 a.m. 570-239-8237.
