“Not exactly the height of American automobile manufacturing,” Vega said. “The ‘70s weren’t great for American cars period. But I love my Vega. It’s kind of an oddity now. It isn’t very powerful (2.3L, 139.6 cubic inch engine, single barrel carburetor only gets about 90 horsepower), it isn’t very reliable, the Vegas had trouble with engineering, reliability, safety and most seemed to have a problem with rust. I will say keeping the body in shape has been my main focus since I bought the car probably 20 years ago.”
