Things to do in the Scranton area this weekend
Booze & Bruise Ball. Admission costs $5 at the door. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Roller Radicals will host a mix and mingle event from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. March 10 at The V-Spot, 906 Providence Road, Scranton. The roller derby team will be selling green and purple Jell-O shots and Radicals merchandise to raise money to support the team during its upcoming season. Parade Day at Ale Mary’s. There is a $10 cover charge to enter this event. Parade Day starts at 9 a.m. March 11 at Ale Mary’s, 126 Franklin Ave., Scranton. Musical entertainment will be provided by Eric Rudy from 9 to 11 a.m., Black Tie Stereo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Clever Clever & Mercy Gang from 3 to 6 p.m. Drink specials will be available all day, and although the kitchen will be closed, there will be a food stand where patrons can purchase meals. Parade Day at Cooper’s. There is no cover charge to hear bands play. Parade goers can enjoy food and music all parade day long from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 11 at Cooper’s Seafood House, 701 N. Washington Ave., Scranton. Brunch will be offered from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Jack Bordo & Jim Cullen Strolling will perform starting at 11:30 a.m. EJ the DJ will play live in the ship from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Wanabees will perform from 3 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 570-346-6883.
Go for the Green. Admission costs $7 at the door. Capping off a day of St. Patrick’s Parade celebration, Here We Are in Spain will perform improvisational comedy from 8 to 10 p.m. March 11 at the Afa Gallery, 514 Lackawanna Ave., Scranton. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with comedy kicking off at 8 p.m. The event will feature opening acts Jillian Chiaro and Marywood University’s Improv Beyond. For more information, call 570-969-1040.
