First Timer Friday. Free. All first time skiers and snowboarders are invited to learn a new hobby from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 23 at Montage Mountain, 1000 Montage Mountain Rd., Scranton. Lift tickets, equipment rentals and lessons are all free for enthusiasts trying out the slopes for the fist time. The free lesson is required for all fledgling skiers and snowboarders. Sip & Shop on Adams. The event is free to attend. Holiday shoppers are invited to enjoy a beverage, purchase gifts at discounted prices and enter giveaways from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 22 on Adams Avenue in Scranton. The event is hosted by The Post Home and Body, 344 Adams Ave., but participating businesses also include Embassy Vinyl, Tammy’s Stained Glass Treasures, Eden: A Vegan Cafe, Guerrilla Studio Tattooing, Loyalty Barber Shop and The Workshop.

Lily Maopolski Christmas Eve Eve. Admission is free. Lily Maopolski performs from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 23 at Thirst T’s Bar & Grill, 120 Lincoln St., Olyphant. The show is Maopolski’s debut at the venue. Thirst T’s is offering $5 martini’s and features a chicken and fish fry during the evening. From 5 to 7 p.m. wings cost 49 cents and domestic bottles of beer cost $2.50. From 7 to 9 p.m. there will be a free taste test of Dr. McGillicuddy’s liqueurs.

Holiday Party & Ugly Sweater Extravaganza. Admission is free. A holiday party takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 22 at Cigars On State, 209 South State St., Clarks Summit. The cigar shop will have exclusive deals for all party attendees and a prize will be awarded for best ugly sweater. Food, spiked egg nog and merriment will be provided.
