Hawley Winterfest: Celebrate the incoming cold weather at a winterfest. From Dec. 9 – 11 visit the small town of Hawley and experience a winter play the Pocono Mountain’s way. Beginning on Friday, local shops will have special shopping incentives, entertainment and a beer tour. Santa will be on hand at Gresham’s Landing. Climb some rocks: If the weather this weekend is going to be too dreary for you to be outside, head inside to Pocono Rocks. Test your endurance and athleticism in downtown Mount Pocono. Pocono Rocks lets you explore the Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course, bounce houses and rock walls. Put down those electronic devices and get in a little exercise in a fun way. Kids are welcome. Finish (or start) shopping: Do you still have a few people to check off your list for holiday shopping? Then check out the Pocono Vendors Marketplace along the outskirts of downtown Stroudsburg on Dec. 10 -11. Check out many merchants selling wares including furniture, clothing, musical instruments and all surrounded by a warm, friendly atmosphere. Layaway options and gift certificates are available. Owl Moon Walk: Here’s one for the week. If you enjoy the chilly weather and enjoy the way a full moon looks on a clear night then keep Wednesday open. On Dec. 14, plan on enjoying the full moon at Lackawanna State Park from 7 to 9 p.m. The park, located at 138 Abington Road, North Abington Township, will bring the story of “Go Owling” to life under the full moon.
