WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP — Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza isn’t just opening its rink to the public for the annual Toys for Tots Open Skate — it’s opening the entire venue.

For the first time in the event’s history, attendees can take a self-guided tour of the venue with holiday-themed stops along the way. Stops include photos with Santa and a chance to win a luxury suite at a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins game.

All guests will receive snacks, gifts and be eligible to win tickets to Penguins games, Disney on Ice, Monster Jam, Harlem Globetrotters or Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

The Open House and Open Skate will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6. Admission to the open house is free, while the Open Skate is $5. Alternatively, skaters may skate for free with the donation of a new, unwrapped toy.

Guests must bring their own ice skates to the rink or rent skates from Toyota SportsPlex, 38 Coal St., Wilkes-Barre, for $3 a pair starting at 4 p.m. Dec. 5. Skate rentals from Toyota SportsPlex will require proper photo ID and credit card and must be returned to the same location within 24 hours after the Open Skate event. Guests without skates will not be permitted to take the ice.

For more information about rental, contact Toyota SportsPlex at 570-970-3611. For more information about the Toys for Tots Open Skate, call Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza at 570-970-7600.
