Lumberjack competitions, blacksmith demonstrations, chainsaw sculptures and saw mill demonstrations highlight Shawnee Mountain Ski Area’s Autumn Timber Festival, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8-9. Other attractions include chairlift rides, live music and food and craft vendors, as well as an all-ages canine-centric performance. 42nd Annual Harvest Festival. Free to $10. Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm will celebrate its 42nd annual harvest festival with demonstrations of spinning, weaving, yarn dyeing, broom making, blacksmithing and more. They’ll also offer country food, pumpkin decorating and pony rides and horse-drawn wagon rides. In addition, the 142nd Civil War reenacts and The New Jersey Frontier Guard (French and Indian soldiers) will set up camp on the farm.
