Steamtown Music Awards. $5 general admission. Free for nominees. The 2016 Steamtown Music Awards take place beginning at 6 p.m. Sept. 15 at The V-Spot, 906 Providence Rd. Local media outlets will interview nominees on the red carpet beginning at 6 p.m. Award-winners will be announced in a multitude of both publicly voted and committee selected categories. The evening features performances by DJ Hersh, Umbriel, Still Hand String Band, Dani-elle, Mercy Gang, The Boneflowers, Skip Monday, Flatland Ruckus and A Fire With Friends. The late George Wesley will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Absolutely, Positively Blues. $20 advance, $25 at the door. The three-act blues showcase takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Scranton Cultural Center’s Shopland Hall and features performances by the Clarence Spady Band, Phyllis Hopkins Electric Trio and Lee Delray Band. Ark Fest Benefit for Beth. $20. Ark Fest Benefit for Beth starts at 1 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Carbondale Grand Hotel, 25 South Main St., Carbondale. Hosted by non-profit organization ‘Ark helps,’ the event features live performances by Static in the Attic, the Jeffrey James Band, Dashboard Mary and Blink 180TRUE. The event benefits Beth Whitelavich, a local woman diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Tickets available at the Carbondale Grand Hotel. The event is all ages.

Cars of Friday Night Charity Car Show. $10 to enter a vehicle. This first fundraiser takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 17 at 617 May St., Mayfield and benefits the Mayfield Hose Company Station 59. Trophies will be awarded to the top three cars and top three trucks as well as People’s Choice and Girl’s Choice categories. Cars of Friday Night is conducting a Facebook photo competition. Interested car owners can visit to post a picture of their vehicle in order to be considered. The top two rides with the most hits will be awarded.
