WILKES-BARRE — In conjunction with the Third Friday Art Walk, jazz fusion band Project Grand Slam plays a free show at 8 p.m. July 15. The performance is part of the theater’s “Live from the Chandelier Lobby” concert series.

Led by composer and bassist Robert Miller, Project Grand Slam brings a jam band sensibility to their marriage of rock and roll and improvisational jazz. Their upcoming fourth album “The Queen’s Carnival” is due to be released Aug. 19.

Formed in 2007, PGS found acclaim with their first two records, “Play” and “Spring Dance,” which produced popular radio singles “The Captain Of Her Heart” and “Catch You Later.”

PGS also contributed five songs to the soundtrack of hit NBC-TV series “Lipstick Jungle” starring Brooke Shields and Kim Raver, and Miller took on a speaking part in the show.

Although the show is free, concert goers can pick up general admission tickets in advance at the Kirby Center box office and by phone at 570-826-1100. Tickets are also available at the door the evening of the show.

The Third Friday Wilkes-Barre Art Walk takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. July 15 and features original artwork and music at participating galleries and businesses. Attendees have the opportunity to meet artists, musicians and friends in a family friendly environment.
