Wilkes-Barre’s Kirby Center adds Johnny Winter All-Star Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Cory Branan to Chandelier Lobby Series
WILKES-BARRE — The F.M. Kirby Center, 71 Public Square, has added three new shows to their Chandelier Lobby Series.
The Johnny Winter All-Star Band will perform at 8 p.m. June 11. The New Riders of the Purple Sage will visit at 8 p.m. July 1, and Cory Branan will play at 8 p.m. Sept. 9.
Tickets for all three shows go on sale at 10 a.m. April 22. There will be a pre-sale for Kirby Members only beginning at 10 a.m. April 20. Tickets for the Johnny Winter All-Star Band and NRPS are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show. Tickets for Cory Branan cost $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show.
The Johnny Winter All Star band features original members of the most recent band formed by the late great blues musician Johnny Winter, including his protege, Paul Nelson.
The New Riders of the Purple Sage began as a side-project of the Grateful Dead when Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart joined forces with John Dawson and David Nelson. Before co-founder Dawson passed away in 2009, he gave the band his blessing to continue on.
Cory Branan is a difficult to label songwriter who lists John Prine and Tom Waits as influences.
In an article from Noisey/VICE Branan was called “the most unheralded man holding a guitar today … There’s no question that the guy can write the absolute hell out of a song.”
