Iconic singer-songwriter Elton John coming to Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre Township Sept. 24
WILKES-BARRE TWP. — The bitch is back, and his upcoming trip through the Wyoming Valley could be one of the last opportunities for fans to see the legend live.
As part of a nine city concert tour, Sir Elton John will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, 255 Highland Park Blvd.
In a news release from the arena, John said, “The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family and less time touring. I am all too aware of how precious the time ahead is. My sons are growing up so quickly. Their early years are just flying by and I want to be there with them.”
John’s band features Nigel Olsson, who was a member of John’s original three-piece band, on drums, Davey Johnstone, who’s been with John full time since 1972, on guitar, John Mahon on percussion, Kim Bullard on keyboards and Matt Bissonette on bass.
Over five decades, John has produced 35 gold records, 25 platinum albums and 29 consecutive top 40 hits. He still holds the record for best selling singe of all time with “Candle in the Wind ‘97,” which sold over 37 million copies, and his passion for live performance has driven him to play over 4,000 live shows.
John and his band deliver a live show rife with hits including “Your Song,” “Rocket Man,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Philadelphia Freedom,” “Crocodile Rock,”Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” and many more.
Tickets go on sale at noon on April 8 and are available online at Ticketmaster.com, at Ticketmaster outlets and via charge by phone at 800-745-3000.
