WILKES-BARRE — Tattoos, much like most types of art, come in all shapes and sizes. Shaun Flinn, one of the resident artists at 5-7-0 Tattooing Co. He specializes in the kind or art pulled directly from anyone’s wildest imagination.

Flinn, known for his vibrant, colorful take on new school tattooing, has been at the craft for eight and a half years, masterfully depicting fun, eye-catching designs with finesse.

Originally from Mount Pocono, Flinn initially attended college for media arts and animation at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, but after a change of heart and a change of plans, he wound up in an apprenticeship, which would lead him to the career he’s in today.

“I guess my claim to fame is definitely new school,” he said. “I love illustrative, cartoon-y, colorful pieces. I love taking a lighthearted take on tattoos. I like to keep it fun, nothing too serious.”

Flinn also expressed the importance of constant progression in the tattoo world.

“It’s super important to continue to constantly grow,” he said. “I hope to never plateau. That’s why I always try to guest spot, travel, see other artists.”

And Flinn’s growth will be outward in the next few months. He will be attending the Philadelphia Tattoo Convention on Feb. 12 to 14. In addition, his helm, 5-7-0 Tattooing Co. is currently growing and plans to expand into a new space by spring.

“We’re very excited to see where the next few months takes us,” he said.

When not in the shop, which according to him is “rarely,” he can be found at home, getting ready for his next tattoo.
