JIM THORPE — Mauch Chunk Opera House has released details on a number of events coming to the venue in January. Doors open an hour before listed showtime.

New West Guitar Group, a trio of guitar players who cover pop songs and perform jazz standards, as well as present their own original material, will play Mauch Chunk 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16. Tickets for the show, which also features guest vocalist Sara Gazarek, are $18.

Taarka is led by David Pelta-Tiller (mandolin, tenor guitar) and his wife, Enion Pelta-Tiller (five-string violin) with Troy Robey (bass) and Mike Robinson (guitar) rounding out the band. The four met at a show in Brooklyn and turn a busker act in the New York City subway into a nationally-touring outfit. Tickets to Taarka’s 6:30 p.m. show are $15.

The Dirty Bourbon River Show is like a marching band walking through a circus set up in the middle of Mardi Gras, and they’re bringing their tent show rock band experience to Mauch Chunk at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22. Tickets are $18.

KICK, – The INXS Experience is led by vocalist Cory Massi, who was inspired in the late ’80s by live INXS performances in Philadelphia. Their setlist is described as containing material from “‘Original Sin’ to ‘Elegantly Wasted’ and everything in between!’” Tickets for the 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23 show are $20.

Monthly podcast “40 Story Radio Tower” returns to Mauch Chunk Sunday, Jan. 24 to record another episode. Tickets for the 4 p.m. show are $10 and doors open at 3:30 p.m. instead of 3 p.m. This month’s musical guests are Craig Thatcher & Nyke Van Wyke.

New York’s Donna the Buffalo will play Mauch Chunk Friday, Jan. 29. The band released their first full-length in 1989 and have since produced a steady stream of releases; their latest is 2013’s “Tonight, Tomorrow and Yesterday.” Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $26.

Dead On Live — Grateful Dead Singalong Show will return to Mauch Chunk for the 4th time Saturday, Jan. 30. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $25.
