Netflix has announced that the second season of its critically-acclaimed series “Marvel’s Daredevil” will hit the streaming service Friday, March 18.

Based on one of Marvel Comics’ more mature characters, “Daredevil” tells the story of Matt Murdock, who protects his neighborhood of Clinton and Midtown West, Manhattan (nicknamed Hell’s Kitchen) as a lawyer by day and vigilante by night. Season One of the TV-MA rated series currently sits at a 98% favorable rating on aggregate site rottentomatoes.com.

A teaser for the second season of “Daredevil” has been released that references the arrival of The Punisher, played by “The Walking Dead” actor Jon Bernthal. Élodie Yung (2011’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) will also join the cast as Elektra.

“Daredevil” shares the same universe as the November 2015 Netflix release ” Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” which stars Luzerne county native Krysten Ritter in the title role. Another Marvel Netflix series focusing on super hero Luke Cage will premiere later in 2016, and will be followed by a team-up between the three characters called “Marvel’s The Defenders.”
