Ugly Sweater Party. Free! Harlot will headline a a group of four acts at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 at the Keys at 244 Penn Ave. Rennin Davidson, lead singer and songwriter of Harlot is travelling in from Oregon to join her band. Other featured acts include the acoustic indie soul group Umbriel, the acoustic duo, A Season Underground, and Aaron McCurdy. Guests are invited to wear don their ugliest sweaters.

Village Idiots Xmas Eve Eve! Free! Northeastern Pennsylvania mainstays, the Village Idiots are hosting a party on the day before the day before Christmas. The band, which features Freeman White on keys, Jami Novak on drums, Greg Kondrat and Chuck Sabatelle on guitar and MJ Puskas on bass, will entertain a crown at 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 at O’Leary’s Pub at 514 Ash St.

Mountain Sky Christmas Party. $10. The Mountain Sky Family is holding a holiday party from 8 p.m. to midnight on Dec. 26 at the Mountain Sky venue grounds on Still Meadow Lane in Jermyn. The evening will feature music of the Mountain Sky Orchestra. Stay warm by the wood stove as the band performs for the crowd. The event is BYOB and guests must be 21 or older. ID will be checked at the doors, which open at 6 p.m.

Everhart Botanica. Museum admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, $3 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and free for children under 5 and members. From now until Dec. 31, the museum will be showing selections from their Twining Herbarium. The historical specimens include native plants and introduced species and are being displayed as a complement to the Everhart’s To Your Health! exhibit as all plants have been used historically to make or flavor alcoholic spirits, liqueurs and cordials as well as for medicinal formulas and applications.

The Nutcracker, Free! This is the 40th Christmas season during which Ballet Theater of Scranton will welcome the community to see the holiday ballet. Performances are 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 26 to Dec. 28 at the Sette LaVerghetta Center for the Performing Arts, Marywood University, 2300 Adams Ave, Scranton.
