BeatTeks Bar-B-Que: $3 cover. Join DJ Hersh and several other DJs as they present Beatteks Bar-B-Que on Aug. 22 at the River Grille, 870 N. River St. in Plains. The music starts at 8 p.m., with half price drink specials from 10 p.m. to midnight. There will be a special barbecue menu, games and good times.

Wiffle ball: Free! Meet some of the Influencers, play a little ball and complete a #NEPAChallenge. The city of Wilkes-Barre, #NEPAChallenge and the wiffle ball league are hosting Kids Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Backyard Wiffle Ball League of Wilkes-Barre’s field at Madison Street Park. Bring the kids, aged 6-12, but stick around because an adult pick up game just might happen.

Fighting for a cause: $15. Join Team Ultra Violet as they help raise money for Violet Pantucci, a 3-year-old who’s in the fight of her life — she is diagnosed with Smooth Brain Syndrome and is currently undergoing therapy. East Coast Professional Wrestling will hold a benefit event at 8 p.m., Aug. 22 at Queen of the Apostles Church in Avoca. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Jazz Cafe: $5, $8. The River Street Jazz Cafe is bringing more entertainment this weekend. at 10 p.m. Aug. 21, Bone Jak will take stage and at 9 p.m. Aug. 22 Souled Out will perform. Tickets can be purchased in advance but will be available at the door.

Calling all bands: $1,000! Got ya! That grand is how much you could win if you’re in a band. Sign them up for P&J’s Battle of the Bands (formerly known as My Lower End). Signups must be made before Aug. 27 so get started. The battle will take place Aug. 29 at P&J’s 462 W. State St. in Larksville. For more information call the bar at 570-779-9186.

Pittston Tomato Festival: Free! It’s time to toss your tomatoes. Literally. The annual Tomato Festival will take over Pittston beginning on Aug. 20, but the Tomato Fights are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in Cooper’s parking lot. Bring your aim and your arm and battle out with tomatoes.

Brawl for the brave: $15. An outdoor boxing match will take place starting at 2 p.m. Aug. 22 at The Vault Tap and Kitchen, 301 N. Main St. Scranton. The fight will help raise money and awareness for the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. The part continues well into the night with music by The South Side Bandits and Tim Kropa.

Eat with a dog: Free! (Well, you have to pay for dinner.) Bring your four-legged friend to Cork Bar and Restaurant any day through Aug. 22 between 5-7 p.m. and enjoy some themed cocktails including a Slush Puppy or a Maltese Mojito out on the patio. Cork is located 463 Madison St. Wilkes-Barre.

Scavenger Hunt: Free! Before you embark on all the fun things at night, bring the kids on this family-friendly adventure. There are various hunt-location options and prizes are awarded.
