Dear Melissa,

I took back my ex and told myself that the first time we dated I was being too picky. Now that we are dating again I am finding the same things still bother me. It’s nothing big — minor hygiene and wardrobe issues mainly — but it is enough to make me question my decision.

Did I make the right choice?

Second time around

Dear Second timer,

You need to be honest, with yourself and with the guy about the things you are willing to tolerate. While it is true that these are minor, fixable issues, you need to ask yourself if the guy were to fix them, would you be happy or find something else to nitpick about. Are you actually happy and want to be with him? Or do you just not want to be alone? Be fair and honest. Regarding his hygiene, a little self-maintenance and care can go a long way. Maybe he just needs a tune-up.
