Who

…features the brightest minds in the valley?

The Hoyt Library (284 Wyoming Ave., Kingston) and Wilkes M.A./M.F.A. Creative Writing Program will present a free summer reading series called Valley of the Minds, showcasing local and visiting writers. The first installment takes place Thursday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hoyt Library’s community room; light refreshments will be provided.

This month’s reading will feature Cecilia Galante, Dawn Leas, and Jason Lucarelli, and all prose and poetry writers are welcome to participate in the open mic session afterward.

For more info, contact the library at 570.287.2013.

What

…can you do to help a Clarks Summit native who has since found himself in the country music scene in Nashville? Give a little and help him get his second, independently released album off the ground.

Ryan Harris Brown has launched a Kickstarter to reach his goal of $2,500 to support “Wave Goodbye or Wave Hello,” and he’s looking towards his roots to help support him in the journey.

The campaign, which runs through June 30, can be found at bit.ly/RyanHarrisBrownKickstarter.

Where

…can you go if you’ve got a craving for clams? Look no further than Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House (Shoppes at Montage, Moosic) for the New England Clambake. Clams raw and steamed, clam chowder, corn on the cob, salads, hamburgers, hot dogs, and more will be served, and live acoustic tunes will be provided by Unshackled.

The event, which benefits the Boys & Girls Club, takes place June 23 from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $35. For more information, visit docmagrogansmontageclambake.eventbrite.com.

Why

…should you be looking for hidden artwork in downtown Scranton?

Erik Wahl, a renowned artist and speaker who will be in town for the Scranton Chamber of Commerce annual dinner, will conduct an “art drop,” where he will hide an original piece of his work somewhere in downtown Scranton and then offer clues to its location via Facebook (facebook.com/iamerikwahl) and Twitter (twitter.com/erikwahl), a game that began yesterday.

Just think: singer P!nk recently purchased one of his Marilyn Monroe portraits for $10,000. Wouldn’t it be great to stumble upon something so valuable?
