Will You be the One to Survive?

Outwit. Outplay. Outlast. CBS’s Emmy-Award winning series, “Survivor,” is coming to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs for a contestant casting call. The open auditions are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 17, at the Convention Center. Registration is in Salon E of the Keystone Grand Ballroom and the auditions will be held in Salon F.
Hopeful contestants will get two-minutes in front of a camera to express their personality and convince CBS producers that they are the next survivor.
“You have to do whatever you think it will take to get on the show,” said Chris O’Neal, the Creative Services Director of WYOU. “I tell people if they don’t know what they are going to do or say when they get in front of the camera, then they won’t be set apart from the competition.”
Although the casting calls begin at 11 a.m., people are expected to start lining up early. But not that early. Wannabe contestants can not start lining up until 5 a.m.
“Survivor” is a show where 18 castaways compete against each other for a $1 million prize. The show brings out competitor’s true colors and allows the audience to see if there is any truth to the pre-conceived notion that certain characteristics help competitors survive. It is hosted by Emmy-Award winner, Jeff Probst.
CBS does its own auditions throughout the country in major cities such as New York City, Philadelphia and Los Angeles, but WYOU takes advantage of the opportunity to maybe find some starts in NEPA.
There are few central locations in the region where a mass of people can audition for a show of this magnitude. WYOU gets the opportunity to hold one audition a year for shows such as Survivor or the Amazing Race since they are a CBS affiliate company. The closest CBS affiliates that could hold their own auditions are in Binghamton and Elmira.
Contestants must be 18 or older to audition and must fill out a release waiver as well as a packet. Those auditioning should keep in mind that the show takes you away from your life for a couple of months. Can you survive?
