Clarks Summit vocalist, songwriter, and musician Alyssa Lazar will do her part to ring in the New Year at First Night Scranton by offering the crowd a mix of music.

On New Year’s Eve, the Abington Heights High School sophomore is set to entertain at AFA Gallery located at 514 Lackawanna Ave. in Scranton.

What can event goers expect to hear from Lazar? “A big mix of genres and music…anything really,” said Lazar, who will provide her own accompaniment with guitar and piano. “I sing a lot of popular hits from today and I’ll be singing some Taylor Swift songs, music from the 1970s and 1980s, original music, and some Christmas songs…I like to sing a big mix of music, because I know the crowds I’m entertaining have a lot of different ideas of the music they like.”

She began performing at gigs probably a year or two ago at Duffy’s Coffee House in Clarks Summit; and at the First Friday Art Walk venue, Bella Faccias, Scranton, but has been singing for crowds since she was four-years-old.

Lazar noted she received an invitation to perform at the First Night Scranton family-oriented bash from Paige Balitski via Facebook.

“They asked me if I want to sing for First Night New Year’s Eve and I was so excited to get to sing New Year’s Eve. Maybe I can be a part of getting everyone even more excited,” Lazar said.
