In society today, women take on many more roles than those who came before us. We saw the glass ceiling and smashed it. We have goals, dreams and ambitions while still maintaining to run a household and have a life. We are fascinating creatures. When the demands of society become too much however, sometimes you just need to put on the brakes and do something nice for yourself in order to recharge your battery and stay fabulous.

Personally speaking, I am a mother first and foremost (which is a great accomplishment on its own accord), I work five jobs, coach a team, chair 2 committees in the PTA and am ever present in the community working charity events and being an activist. In the hustle and bustle of it all, I know how easy it can be to forget to take a day and be selfish.

I was feeling burnt out by the demands of my life. I was giving so much of myself to everyone else that I was letting myself go. One morning, I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the person looking back. Where was the sassy girl who lives to take on the world? It was then that I decided to be selfish and do something just for me.

I was tossing around the idea of a spa day, a shopping trip or a day in wine country when I came across a posting on Facebook about a local company that specializes in pin up photography. I had always been fascinated by pin-up couture, so I decided to give them a call.

I met Joe and Bonnie Sullivan of Sullivan’s Pin Up’s in Olyphant. They are a husband and wife team who started out as punk rockers and ended up being top of the line photographers specializing in pin up and boudoir photography. Pin up is an art that is making a huge resurgence in today’s society. Joe and Bonnie are truly masters of combining old Hollywood glamour with the spark and flare of Rosie Riveter and Bettie Page. They have been published in multiple magazines and ads such as Ivy Magazine, Fashion Bombshell Magazine, Dames, Planes and Automobiles and many more.

Bonnie and I chatted like old friends while she put together my hair, make up and wardrobe. I have done my fair share of photo shoots before, but never in my life have I walked into a studio and walked out feeling like I made lifelong friends. The pictures were effortlessly amazing. Their focus is to make every woman see how stunning she is and have a great time in the process.

So ladies, if you’re ready to embrace your inner sex kitten and do something for yourself, contact Bonnie and Joe. They will showcase how beautiful you are and you will walk out of the studio with a new sense of confidence and some old school flare.
