Santa’s coming to town and he’ll be hungry when he gets to your home.

Light a fire, or turn up the heat, and get ready to make these delicious treats. No time bake them? That’s OK. Pack it to go for Santa to take with him in his sleigh.

These cookies are also excellent last minute gifts.

This is an easy recipe where all of the dry ingredients are placed in a mason jar. The receiver adds a few items and bakes.

In a quart mason jar layer:

1-1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup oats (the non-instant variety)

3/4 cup red and green M&M’s

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup white sugar

1/3 to 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Items can be poured easily by rolling a piece of paper to use as a funnel. Pack each level of ingredients tightly by tapping firmly on the bottom of the jar. The ingredients should be level with the top of the jar. Add the white chocolate chips until level. Attach a label with the remaining instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Add dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add one slightly beaten egg, 1/2 cup softened butter, and one teaspoon vanilla.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Roll the balls into 1 1/2 inch balls and place on baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
