CINDERELLA When her father unexpectedly dies, young Ella (Lily James) finds herself at the mercy of her cruel stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and stepsisters. They make her their scullery maid, but despite her circumstances, she refuses to despair. Ella’s fortunes begin to change after meeting a dashing stranger in the woods and an invitation to a palace ball. PG; 1:43

CHAPPIE — In the future, a mechanized police force keeps the streets safe and deals with lawbreakers, but, the people fight back. When one police droid is stolen and given new programming, he acquires the ability to feel and think for himself. While the robot, dubbed “Chappie” puzzles out human behavior, the authorities begin to see him as a danger to mankind. They will stop at nothing to ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind. R; 2 hours

STILL ALICE An accomplished linguistics college professor (Julianne Moore) deteriorates in front of her friends, family and herself as Alzheimer’s disease slowly destroys her mind. Also starring Alec Baldwin, Kristen Stewart and Kate Bosworth. PG-13; 1:41

THE SECOND BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL — Before his marriage, Sonny sets his eye on opening a second residence for the elderly, but finds the project requires more time than he can spare. Meanwhile, Evelyn and Douglas wonder where their relationship is going, Norman and Carol try to remain exclusive, Madge juggles two rich suitors, and the single remaining vacancy poses a problem for two new arrivals. As the demands of Sonny’s traditional Indian wedding threaten to overwhelm them all, an unexpected solution appears. PG; 1:57

UNFINISHED BUSINESS —A business trip to Europe goes disastrously awry for a small-business owner (Vince Vaughn) and his associates (Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco), who are hoping to close the most important deal of their lives. R; 1:31

FOCUS — Nicky (Will Smith), a veteran con artist, takes a novice, Jess (Margot Robbie) under his wing. While Nicky teaches Jess the tricks of the trade, the pair become romantically involved; when Jess gets uncomfortably close, Nicky ends their relationship. Three years later, Nicky is in Buenos Aires working a very dangerous scheme when Jess — now an accomplished femme fatale — unexpectedly shows up. Her appearance throws Nicky for a loop at a time when he cannot afford to be off his game. 1:45

THE LAZARUS EFFECT — Medical students (Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde) develop a serum that brings the dead back to life, but things go horribly wrong after they use it on a human. PG13, 1:23

HOT TUB TIMEMACHINE 2 — The magical hot tub sends Lou (Rob Corddry), Nick (Craig Robinson) and Jacob (Clark Duke) 10 years into the future to prevent an unknown assailant from shooting Lou. 1:34

THE DUFF — A high-school senior (Mae Whitman) sets out to reinvent herself and revolutionize the student body’s social order after learning that a judgmental classmate has given her an embarrassing nickname. PG-13; 1:41

MCFARLAND USA — Track coach Jim White (Kevin Costner) is a newcomer to a predominantly Latino high-school in California’s Central Valley. Coach White and his new students find they have much to learn about one another. Things begin to change when White realizes the boys’ exceptional running ability. More than just physical prowess drives the teens to succeed; their strong family ties, incredible work ethic and commitment to their team all play a factor in forging these novice runners into champions. FIFTY SHADES OF GREY — A literature student (Dakota Johnson) begins a daring affair with a controlling businessman (Jamie Dornan) whose sexual proclivities push the boundaries of pain and pleasure. R; 2:07

KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE — Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (Taron Egerton), whose late father secretly worked for a spy organization, lives in a South London housing estate and seems headed for a life behind bars. However, dapper agent Harry Hart (Colin Firth) recognizes potential in the youth and recruits him to be a trainee in the secret service. Meanwhile, villainous Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) launches a diabolical plan to solve the problem of climate change via a worldwide killing spree. R; 2:09

BIRDMAN — A washed-up actor, whose previous claim to fame was his portrayal of a popular superhero, attempts to recapture his past glory by mounting a Broadway play. R, 2 hours

THE IMITATION GAME — Genius British logician and cryptologist Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) helps crack Germany’s Enigma Code during World War II but is later prosecuted by his government for illegal homosexual acts. PG13; 1:53

PADDINGTON — From the beloved novels by Michael Bond, “Paddington” tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw) who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he realizes city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says “Please look after this bear. Thank you,” and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist. PG; 1:35
