The official 2014 qualifying tour for the annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest will stop at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond at 5 p.m. on June 7.

The event will feature top-ranked eaters, including Bob Shoudt, the world spaghetti-eating champion and the number-six-ranked eater in the world, who is known in eating circles as “The Notorious BOB.” Also competing will be world cranberry sauce-eating champion Juliet Lee, Marcos “The Monster” Owens, Canadian champion Meredith Boxberger, “Wild” Bill Myers, and Steakbellie Livingston.

The top male and top female finishers will earn a spot to compete in the finals at the original Nathan’s Famous in Brooklyn.

When

…will NEPA BlogCon return to the area?

The event’s time and place is slated for Oct. 11 at Misericordia University’s Insalaco Center for Career Development, but you can chat with some of those involved much earlier.

There will be a kickoff party June 18 at 7 p.m. at River Grille in Plains Township that will have appetizers, door prizes, and much more. It’s a free event, but those attending can make a suggested $5 donation towards the selected charity for this year.
